Bloom FAQ

An evaluation is the first step in determining whether your child would benefit from therapeutic intervention. Our evaluations include parent interviews, direct time spent with your child, administration, scoring, and interpretation of standardized assessments, and a comprehensive report. With every evaluation, we follow-up with a parent meeting to discuss your questions about the results and to establish goals and a plan for moving forward, if recommended. The assessment typically takes place at Bloom, but may also be administered at home, school, or community settings. Individual therapy sessions are playful and fun, providing opportunities for the "just-right" challenge. Each session allows for 50 minutes of direct treatment.

You may want to let your child know that their first visit to Bloom will include some activities while seated at a table (like mazes, drawing, and puzzles) and some activities that get their bodies moving (like jumping, swinging, and climbing). Let them know that some tasks may feel difficult for them and that’s to be expected - we always include things that are meant for “older” kids, too. Although most tasks are presented playfully, their first visit is more task-oriented than play-based.
If your child asks why they are coming to Bloom, you can explain that we want to discover what might be tricky for them and explore ways to help make those things easier. Depending on your child’s age and stage of development, we can adjust our words to facilitate their understanding about the whats and whys of their visits to Bloom.
Ongoing sessions typically feel more like a play date and are tailored to your child’s interests and abilities. We are always looking for the “just-right challenge” so that your child will be actively engaged during their sessions while stretching their skills.

Bloom does not bill insurance companies directly for our programs or services. Many families use their Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA) as payment options.
You will be provided with an invoice which you may choose to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Our intake forms include information to assist in the process of securing insurance coverage, however, we cannot guarantee reimbursement. You are responsible for payment in full when services are rendered.

At Bloom Pediatrics, we understand that schedules can change, and we work with families to ensure continuity of care. All cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice must be made in writing, either via email at info@bloompediatrics.com or by text at (310) 494-6889. Please note that the full session fee will be charged for any cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Regular attendance is important to support progress toward therapy goals. Every effort will be made to reschedule cancelled sessions when possible. If a child does not attend school due to illness, parents or caregivers should notify Bloom by 8:00am on the same day, either via email or text, to cancel the scheduled session.
If a family cancels three sessions with less than 24 hours’ notice within a three-month period, the child’s regularly scheduled appointment time may be forfeited. Similarly, if there are two no-show appointments within a three-month period, the regularly scheduled appointment time will also be forfeited.
Families will not be charged if Bloom Pediatrics is unable to open or must close due to recommendations from government officials or health experts regarding safety.

At Bloom Pediatrics, the health and safety of our clients, therapists, and staff is our top priority. For this reason, we ask that parents and caregivers do not send children to sessions if they have exhibited any of the following within the past 24 hours: illness symptoms, fever of 100°F or greater, vomiting, sore throat or difficulty swallowing, mouth sores, eye discharge, unusual nasal discharge, uncontrolled coughing, difficulty breathing or wheezing, or wounds that are not properly covered.
If a child develops any of these symptoms while at Bloom, their activity will be ended, and the parent, caregiver, or emergency contact will be contacted immediately to pick them up.
In addition, if a child soils their clothing during a session and does not have a proper change of clothes, their activity will be ended and the parent, caregiver, or emergency contact will be notified to pick them up immediately.
If a child is found to have head lice, their activity will also be ended and the parent, caregiver, or emergency contact will be contacted. Treatment to eliminate live lice must be completed before the child may return to Bloom.
